Sawatdy Thai Cuisine

In Thailand, Sawatdy means “Hello” and “Good-bye”
On Bainbridge, it means authentic Thai food.

It’s hard to believe now, but in 1992 there were no Thai restaurants on Bainbridge Island.

Now there are three—with Sawatdy being the oldest and, some say, most authentic. “We have always offered authentic culinary creations blended into unique flavor combinations, from delicate to tantalizing,” said Quyen Tran, who owns and runs the popular family-owned restaurant.

Along the way, Sawatdy has helped Islanders understand the difference between Gang Mussamun and Gang Pla Choo Chee, along with the more than 60 other items on Sawatdy’s extensive menu.

There are even island specials, created exclusively for Bainbridge, including Ultimate Fried Rice—with eggs, chicken, prawns, pineapple, tomatoes, snow peas, onions, carrots, cashews and spiced with yellow curry and a touch of coconut—and Roasted Duck Red Curry, which is made exactly how it sounds.

The approach is working: Sawadty consistently gets rave reviews online and serves full houses most weekends.

So, stop by and say hello sometime.
