Gisela has been rocking the graphic design world since the '90s—first as an art director in DC, then running her own vibrant studio for over 20 years. While magazines are her true design love, you might also spot her work wrapped around a city bus or featured in a local fundraiser—just for fun. Born on a brilliantly colorful island, Gisela sees the world through a bold, joyful lens, always chasing beauty in the little things. She's a proud cat lady, a salsa-dancing queen, and a Cuban food connoisseur on an endless quest for the perfect bite.

Mark has been working as a jack of all trades in publications virtually his entire career, beginning way back with a humble investment newsletter in Seattle’s late-grunge era. He and Gisela started Picante Creative (basically by accident) in Denver in 2001, then settled in Charlottesville, VA, with their daughter, and are now enjoying the empty-nesting life. When not glued to his computer, he enjoys hiking in the woods, noodling with photography, feeding the backyard squirrels, trying to find new music, cursing the East Coast summer humidity and trying to make the world’s best omelet.
