Ballard’s Jimothy, known for his squat shape and indomitable spirit, perhaps has become America’s favorite racoon.

His dad, Grimothy, located here on Bainbridge Island, may be the most frightening.

Grimothy—whose full title is “The Jim Reaper, Dark Lord and Father of Jimothy”— was created by cartoonist Matthew Inman and his brother Bryce Inman, an ER physician. The giant animatronic Halloween display, located in Bryce’s front yard across from Wing Point Country Club, is surrounded by his victims’ smoking bones and features blazing red eyes, a bloody gaping mouth and stubby flapping limbs.

Almost as famous as his much cuter son, Grimothy has been featured in publications including the Stranger and the New York Post.

Grimothy is kept company by several nightmare-fueling companions: Pickles, a pickleball-loving clown; Hole Bunny, a flaming toilet-rabbit hybrid; and an unnamed towering skeleton endlessly vomiting toxic waste.
